Free EXIF & Metadata Remover · JPG, PNG, WebPYour images are
saying too much.
Every photo and graphic you publish can carry GPS locations, camera serial numbers, prompts, timestamps and editing history that anyone can read. CleanFrame removes metadata from JPG, PNG and WebP images in bulk, right on your computer, and leaves the pixels untouched.
What hidden metadata is inside your images?
You see a picture. Anyone who opens the file in a free metadata viewer sees all of this too.
Your prompts & workflows
Some image tools save the exact prompt, seed, settings and full node workflow inside the file. That's your process, and your competitive edge, handed to anyone who right-clicks and saves.
Software & author tags
Software, generator, author and credential fields show which tools made the file and, often, whose machine it came from.
Timestamps
Creation and modification times expose your working hours and production timelines, which are details a client never needs to see.
Device & location data
EXIF blocks can hold camera or phone models, serial numbers and GPS co-ordinates. Those are personal details that shouldn't sit on a public website.
Editing history
XMP records can list every app the file passed through, document IDs and the original filename. Yes, even "final_v3_REALLY_FINAL".
Hidden payloads
Data can be tacked on after the image officially ends. It's invisible to viewers but still travels with every copy.
Remove image metadata in three clicks
Drop. Inspect. Clean. Add your JPGs, PNGs and WebPs and CleanFrame X-rays each one to show exactly what it found. One click strips the lot and saves clean copies to the folder you choose.
Cleaning mode
Removes every non-image block from JPG, PNG and WebP files. The image data is copied byte for byte, so quality is untouched.
Add your credit & copyright for Google Images Optional
After cleaning, CleanFrame writes back only the details you choose, in the standard IPTC format Google Images reads. Google can then show your name, credit and copyright beside your images, and a "Licensable" badge when you add a licence page. Leave a field blank to skip it.
Why remove image metadata before publishing?
It takes seconds, costs nothing and closes gaps most people don't know are open.
Protect your know-how
Prompts and workflows take hours to perfect. Don't let competitors lift them from a downloaded image.
Protect your clients
Keep stray names, devices, locations and timestamps off their live sites. That's good data hygiene, and it supports UK GDPR's data-minimisation principle.
Lighter, faster pages
Metadata is dead weight. Generator workflows alone can add tens of kilobytes per image, and every kilobyte counts towards page speed and Core Web Vitals.
A professional handover
Deliver clean, consistently named files that look like they came from a studio, not a downloads folder.
Nothing leaves your PC
Most online cleaners make you upload files to someone else's server first. CleanFrame runs entirely in your browser and works with the Wi-Fi switched off.
Free and instant
No installer, no account, no subscription. Open the file, drop your images, done.
How to remove EXIF data and metadata from images
Three steps, under a minute, on Windows, Mac or any computer with a modern browser.
Drop your images
Drag in one JPG, PNG or WebP, or a few hundred. Each one is scanned the moment it lands.
See what's inside
CleanFrame shows every hidden field it found, including the actual prompt text, so you know exactly what was exposed.
Export clean copies
Pick a folder and click once. Clean files land there and your originals stay as they were.

The private way to strip metadata from images
Everything you need to know about cleaning image metadata, from EXIF and GPS to AI generation data.
A bulk EXIF and metadata remover that never uploads
Most online metadata removers ask you to upload your images to their server first. CleanFrame is an offline image metadata cleaner: it runs in your browser, processes hundreds of JPG, PNG and WebP files at once and writes clean copies straight to a folder on your PC.
Remove AI generation data and prompts
Image generators and tools such as ComfyUI and Stable Diffusion front-ends can embed the full prompt, seed, sampler settings and workflow in every PNG. CleanFrame shows you that text, then removes it so your methods stay yours.
Remove GPS, EXIF, XMP and IPTC from photos
JPGs carry EXIF (camera, serial number, GPS location), XMP, IPTC and comment segments. PNGs use text, eXIf and tIME blocks, and WebPs use EXIF and XMP chunks. CleanFrame removes them all, keeps only what is needed to display the image, and preserves the orientation so photos never turn sideways.
Better image SEO, the right way
Google ranks images on the page around them: descriptive filenames, alt text, nearby copy and structured data. CleanFrame helps by trimming file weight, renaming files in bulk and adding the creator, credit and copyright fields Google Images displays.
Good questions
How do I remove EXIF data from photos on Windows?
Open CleanFrame in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, drag your JPG, PNG or WebP files in, choose an output folder and click Clean all images. Clean copies are saved to that folder and your originals are left untouched.
Will cleaning reduce image quality?
No. The image data is copied byte for byte, so the picture is identical and only the hidden blocks are removed. The optional Full rebuild mode (PNG only) redraws the image into a brand-new file. That's also lossless, though very faint semi-transparent edges can shift by a shade.
Will my photos end up sideways?
No. Phones save rotation as metadata, and stripping it carelessly leaves photos sideways. CleanFrame keeps that one orientation setting and removes everything else.
Is anything uploaded anywhere?
Never. CleanFrame is a single file that runs inside your browser. Your images are read and written on your own machine, and it works with no internet connection at all.
Which browsers does it work in?
Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows can save straight into a folder you choose. Other browsers work too, and your clean images download as a single ZIP.
Does removing metadata help SEO?
Lighter images help page speed, which is part of how Google judges a page. Image rankings themselves come mainly from the page around the image: descriptive filenames, alt text, nearby text and structured data. CleanFrame can rename files in bulk and add creator, credit and copyright fields that Google Images displays alongside your pictures.
Does it remove invisible watermarks?
No, and no metadata tool honestly can. Some generators hide watermarks inside the pixels themselves, and those are part of the picture. CleanFrame removes everything stored around the picture.
Do I still need to disclose AI-generated images?
Yes, wherever a platform, a client contract or the law requires it. Cleaning removes file data; it doesn't change your disclosure obligations. CleanFrame is about privacy, protecting your workflow and lighter files.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG and JPEG, PNG and WebP, which covers almost every image used on websites. All three are cleaned without re-compressing, so there is zero quality loss. CleanFrame also spots files with the wrong extension and saves them correctly.
